4am - 11/12/12 - Mt Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
At 4095.2m in elevation from sea level it is Malaysia’s highest peak and is the 20th most prominent in the world.
8.79km in length.
The first 6km of which took more than 6hours.
Alititude sickness set in; nausea, headache, exhaustion - these symptoms contributed to making each step harder and harder up the mountain.
However the urge to conquer the mountain was greater than giving up.
It’s seeing views like these that spur you to push yourself further.
At this point I was at the 7km mark and had roughly 2.5hrs to make it to the top before the sunrise…
I did it in 1.5hrs :)
